- MUCH EASIER TO CLEAN! Most waterless and composting toilets have a bowl, with a small trap door for solid waste. A mess results, every time. The Thinktank Waterless Composting toilet utilizes a large chute, with vertical walls. Very little or no waste will hit the sides, and clean up is easier. Look at the picture of the massive opening! It needs FAR LESS CLEANING.
- Because the Thinktank Waterless urine diverting toilet is tightly sealed, ingress by insects is virtually impossible. This solves a major problem with other waterless and composting toilets.
- The toilet is incredibly strong and well made. There is really no comparison to most other waterless and composting toilets, which are very lightweight plastic. The shell of the Thinktank is rotationally molded like a white water kayak, or YETI cooler. This is the strongest possible way to build something in plastic. Rated at 350lbs plus. Big guy approved!
- Urine is separated and directed into the urine drain by an innovative and patented method. Urine then exits the toilet via a drain tube, 7 inches high, at the rear of the toilet. It connects to standard 1″ PVC pipe (not supplied – buy this locally. It’s inexpensive). Run the pipe to the location of your choosing. This is typically a French drain, gray water system, or tank.
- BETTER LOOKING DESIGN – with vent pipes hidden behind the toilet in most installations (in contrast to other toilets, with vent pipes coming out the top or out the side).

What’s in the box?
Most everything you need for a basic, through the wall installation. You might have to buy some pipe at the local hardware store, but you don’t need any expensive accessories from us! Note: all the parts are inside the bucket.
1 – Toilet.

1 – 3 inch X 16 inch PVC exhaust vent pipe with comfort damper valve installed.
1 – 3 inch X 16 inch PVC air intake pipe .
2 – 3 inch – 90 degree elbows.
2 – 3 inch X 1.5 inch PVC rings if you want to mount 90 degree elbows directly to the toilet.
2 – 3 inch X 4 inch sections of PVC pipe to help position the vent hole locations.
2 – aluminum louvered vent caps with insect screens for each 3 inch pipe.
1 – 90 degree rubber coupling for urine drain to 1″ PVC pipe (pipe not included).
1 – straight rubber coupling for urine drain to 1″ PVC pipe (pipe not included).
1 – bag of 6 screws (for mounting to the floor). 4 pan head for the corners. 2 flat head for the center.
1 – 12 volt wires (bare ends, with fuse).
1 – 110-120 volt wall transformer.
1 – package of compostable bags (10 bags in a package).
6 – elastic bands.
YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE from a hardware store:
– a small tube of white bathroom caulking to seal the bottom of the toilet.
– 1″ PVC pipe for the urine drain.
– 3″ PVC thin wall sewer pipe (if the included 16 inch long pipes are not sufficient).
You may also need an odor seal if draining urine into a tank or gray water system. We suggest the Hepvo Odour Seal, as it works well with the Thinktank. You should not need this odour seal if draining directly into a French Drain or pit.

It is installed in a 150 sq-ft ‘bed-shed’ that features a bedroom and bathroom. It is easy to clean and maintain. Instead of using compostable bags, we use paper leaf and yard waste bags from the hardware or Canadian Tire. Aside from a few minor scuff marks it looks just like new. As many people have noted, Richard’s customer service is the best!

We have this in our small weekend cabin (360 sq ft) and there is absolutely zero odor. I did a lot of research and was skeptical of the claims being made by all the manufacturers. I purchased the Thinktank because it is a sealed unit with a fans to blow air in and out. Even so I assumed there would be some hint of smell… but nothing. Everything else was great too, customer service, sturdy unit etc. but none of that really matters if the end result is not good. In this case the end product is excellent. We’re very pleased with our Thinktank! It’s well made of excellent materials and is completely sturdy. The mechanism to open the tank for deposits is very quiet; the lid is nicely sealed and silent to close; the fan is truly almost 100% silent! We run on just the one fan, as you suggested, and it’s unbelievably quiet. As in, i almost never hear it and our tiny house is very quiet inside. Our bathroom is about 6 ft. by 10 ft.—— when I’m reading in the tub I don’t hear the toilet fan.
Easy to clean. Looks bright and similar to toilets most North Americans would recognize.
All in all, our Think Tank has been an excellent purchase. Your customer service has been top notch.

though i have yet to install the toilet i wanted to leave a review in regards to my customer service experience dealing with Richard. I accidently ordered the wrong toilet and Richard helped me correct the mistake quickly and even offered to pay half the shipping back. I really appreciated this! I’ve been eyeing these compost toilets for some time now and always intended to order from Richards site because of the raving reviews he gets. I can confirm he is the real deal. Richard was initially very helpful in recommending the Thinktank eco-toilet to replace an outhouse at our lake cabin in the woods in Nova Scotia. When the unit arrived we were impressed with the size, quality, and mechanism of the unit. Installation was straightforward but we ran into a problem with the closing mechanism. An email to Richard was quickly followed up with a phone call from Richard (despite a 4hr time difference!). The problem was discussed, a solution identified and a new part was expedited right away. Richard continued to follow up personally with emails and videos until we were satisfied that everything was working as it should.
We now have a group of happy campers thanks to the first rate service we received from Richard and quality of the ThinkTank.
